History Center event features ultra-marathoner

Ultra-marathoner Marshall Ulrich, son-in-law of Winona resident Janis Vose (and the late Rory Vose, former biology professor) will host a free screening of the documentary film, “Running America.” Marshall is a record setting ultrarunner, mountaineer, adventure racer and an active humanitarian, speaker and author.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Winona County History Center’s Wanek Hall.

In 2008 at the age of 57, Ulrich started an expedition that would press his physical and mental strengths to their limits. This time the challenge was running 3,063 miles from San Francisco to New York City in an attempt to break a world record. Within the first steps of the journey, he was crossing a changing America. Set against breathtaking landscapes populated with opinionated Americans, Running America captures one of the most defining and difficult times in modern American history as the backdrop for an amazing and unpredictable expedition.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; there is no ticket fee, but limited seating is available.
